About the project

A city festival marking Noyabrsk's 50th anniversary combined the Nenets-style Coffee barista competition, learning sessions and activities for residents. The concept brought together coffee and the North, warmth and ice.

The brief

Make coffee culture part of a city celebration and support the local coffee shop community. Provide a professionally judged competition for specialists and a route through tastings, workshops and interactive activities for residents.

× Solution

• Developed the name, concept and visual identity with northern motifs. Created three distinct program areas for learning, the competition and public activities.
• Organized the barista competition with Moscow Barista School experts: rules, equipped stations, timings, judging materials and awards. Every signature drink had to include a local ingredient.
• Prepared sessions on signature drinks and latte art, a talks program and performances. Pavel Sazhin hosted the festival.
• Designed a quest in which guests collected ten stickers for completing activities and received a coffee. Added an instant-photo project, art objects, workshops and a DJ set.
• Launched the website, registration, invitations and promotion. Coordinated design, equipment, ten volunteers, photography and video production.

= Impact

• Delivered a city festival and a professional competition with baristas from Noyabrsk, Novy Urengoy and other cities.
• Selected the competition winners. Anton Tsirkov from Pravilny Kofe received the main trophy and the right to call his signature drink Nenets-style Coffee.
• Prepared 500 quest cards for visitor participation. Activities, the competition and the awards ceremony followed one coordinated program.
